What are theory labs
and how do I complete them?

Slider

We have two types of lab: theory and contained. Our theory labs tend to be focused on awareness and basic knowledge, while our contained labs are more practical. We’re all about putting your learning into practice, so both types of labs require extra research.

Let’s get back to theory labs. Each lab is listed with a brief overview, plus information on what you’ll gain (including the number of points and the badge you’ll earn), what’s involved, the difficulty level and the approximate time it should take to complete. It will also tell you what type of lab it is – theory or contained. To spin up the lab, click on the blue ‘Start Lab’ button.

All theory labs follow this format. To the left, you’ll find the content itself, with the questions you’ll need to answer to complete the lab on the right. Remember, we encourage you to go out and find the answers yourself, so don’t expect the answers to be hidden in the content. We will signpost you to useful resources or websites should you need them to finish the lab.

Once you’ve answered all the questions on the right, simply click ‘Submit’, or hit enter, and – if all of your answers are correct – the lab will be complete!

When you’ve completed the lab, you’ll be taken to a page like this, showing you the badge you’ve earned, the points you’ve been awarded, and the next lab that you can complete.

And that’s it – an introduction to theory labs. Why not check out our introduction to contained labs next?
