Simon Devenish

Simon brings over two decades of security experience spanning intelligence, defense, and commercial sectors - a rare combination that gives him insight into how threats operate across every context where they matter.

His foundation was built at Detica, later BAE Systems Applied Intelligence, where he worked on threat intercept systems for national agencies. This wasn’t theoretical work: he reverse engineered protocols and custom binary formats, conducted zero-day and n-day analysis, developed exploits, and performed network packet capture on some of the most sensitive systems in operation.

He then led red teaming and network security for Ministry of Defence customers, designing and securing systems ranging from mission planning and control environments to digital twin weapon simulations and air-gapped communication platforms. That experience—operating at the highest level of operational security and adversary sophistication—fundamentally shaped how he thinks about attack and defense.

Outside defense and intelligence, he held permanent and consultancy roles across diverse commercial sectors: SaaS, mobile and desktop software, marketing, games, and cryptocurrency. Each brought different threat models and security challenges, expanding his perspective on how security actually works in the real world.

Now a Lead Cyber Security Engineer in Container 7, Simon channels that vast experience into building red team content that reflects the breadth and depth of threats organizations actually face.
