What is a hands-on cybersecurity lab?

A hands-on cybersecurity lab is a browser-based environment where an individual completes a real security task against live systems and tooling, rather than answering questions about it. Each lab presents a scenario: analyzing malware, investigating an intrusion, exploiting a vulnerability, and validates the outcome, producing evidence of demonstrated capability rather than a completion record.

How is hands-on cybersecurity training different from courses and certifications?

Courses and certifications measure knowledge at a single point in time. Hands-on exercising measures whether an individual can perform the task under realistic conditions, and generates performance data every time they do. A certification confirms someone passed an exam. A lab result shows what they can do now, in an environment that mirrors the one they work in.

How do you measure whether hands-on cybersecurity exercising is working?

Through demonstrated performance rather than completion rates. Immersive's Resilience Score combines nine measured factors — including security team capability, secure coding practice, and framework coverage — into a single value benchmarked against industry peers. Completion rates measure attendance. Performance data measures readiness, and gives a trend line that can be reported at board level.

Which roles do hands-on cybersecurity labs support?

The full workforce, not only technical teams. Coverage spans non-technical employees, developers and engineers, SOC analysts and incident responders, offensive security specialists, and executive leadership. Role relevance matters more than catalog volume: an engineer and a board member face different risks, and need different evidence that they're ready for them.

How quickly is new content available after a threat emerges?

Immersive's threat research team publishes hands-on content in response to emerging vulnerabilities and active campaigns, so teams can exercise against a new threat while it's still live rather than waiting for a scheduled content refresh.
